Open source communities collaborate in a multitude of ways - chatting on irc, submitting issues and contributing code on GitHub, discussing and sharing ideas on reddit and other social channels. Face to face gatherings add another dimension to that, where community members can learn and share their experiences. Local meetups provide a venue for people with similar interests to socialize and connect. However, organizing meetups is not trivial. How does one encourage and motivate the community to arrange meetups, and to keep the momentum? In Carol's one year with the Ansible community, the number of active meetups in Europe has doubled. These meetups are community driven, rather than Red Hat. Find out how she uses metrics to analyze the situation and needs, and the steps she is taking to reach the goals of connecting with even more community members.
