Dexter Travis

Precision Planting
Embedded Linux Developer
With a background in low-level microcontrollers and bare-metal C code, Dexter Travis has spent twenty years in the electronics industry. Dexter has experience at large corporations, such as Caterpillar and Texas Instruments, as well as consultancies, small firms, and startups. During the last five years, Dexter has become Precision Planting’s Linux kernel and Yocto maintainer. Precision Planting’s product line has evolved from a system-on-module approach running vendor-specific kernels to a suite of in-house, fully custom solutions running mainline Linux. Precision Planting is a disruptive technology leader bringing the information age to traditional agriculture. Prior to Precision Planting, Dexter was an applications engineer for Texas Instruments. During that time, he presented twice at the ARM Technology Conference in San Jose, contributed the Stellaris example content for the Micrium uC/OS-III book, and directly supported the development of the 2013 Chromebook Pixel.
