John Round is an R&D Software Fellow within NXP focused on next generation Edge Processing. John is a long term advocate for open source community participation working with the Linux Foundation, driving NXP as a founder member of Linaro and currently serving as the NXP board member for the Zephyr Project. He is also leading the technical discussion and strategy on the emergence of open source hardware such as RISC-V.
With over 30 years of international experience in both Europe and the US he has held a variety of business and engineering leadership roles. His current technical focus includes embedded software architectures, ‘software defined hardware’ and the impact of open source HW & SW. John is an alumni of Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland.
